Post Surgery Lymphatic Drainage
This massage is very important to help you with the healing process after surgery. It is common to experience symptoms such as edema, fibrosis, bruising, numbness, and seroma after the procedure, and lymphatic drainage massage is necessary for better results.
Please read the following highlights carefully before booking your appointment:
Main Contraindications for Post-Operative Lymphatic Drainage:
- Acute Infections: If the patient has an infection at the site to be drained or elsewhere in the body, lymphatic drainage can potentially spread the infection.
- Deep Vein Thrombosis: Lymphatic drainage may dislodge a blood clot, increasing the risk of embolism.
- Congestive Heart Failure: Patients with severe heart conditions may not tolerate the increase in circulating fluid volume.
- Active Cancer: While lymphatic drainage is sometimes used in oncology patients, it must be performed with extreme caution and only under medical supervision to avoid the spread of cancer cells.
- Severe Hypotension: The technique may exacerbate low blood pressure, worsening the patient’s condition.
- Open or Non-Healed Wounds: Lymphatic drainage in areas with wounds can cause pain or further damage the injury.
- Severe Renal Problems: Patients with serious kidney diseases may struggle to manage the increased fluid volume.
Additional Considerations for Our Clinic:
- We are not equipped for sterilization procedures; therefore, lymphatic drainage should not be performed on patients with fluid leakage or secretion, especially if they have drains.
- We do not utilize Electrotherapy.
- It is recommended to take on cases only after 10 to 14 days post-surgery, but each patient should be evaluated individually. We are not qualified to use any other therapies, such as LED and LASER or ILIB. If your doctor recommends one of these therapies, we advise you to find a qualified therapist with LED and LASER or ILIB. You must bring a letter from your doctor. If you experience symptoms of infection (redness, heat, swelling, discharge, fever, and severe pain at the surgery site), you need to contact your doctor immediately.

I was with abdominal pain, bloating and constipation for more than a week. After the lymphatic drainage I already felt better and today after two days I don’t have abdominal pain anymore and slowly is everything getting back to normal. I’m thankful to Jeannine and her magic hands.
